Students' Union
Representing student voices and building a vibrant campus community
Meet Your Student Leaders
The Students' Union at Riragia Technical and Vocational College is the official representative body for all enrolled students. Elected annually by the student body, the union leadership serves as a bridge between students and the college administration, advocating for student welfare, organising campus activities, and fostering a vibrant academic and social environment. Every leader listed below has been democratically elected to serve and represent the interests of their fellow students throughout the academic year.
The President is the chief spokesperson and overall leader of the Students' Union. They chair all union meetings, represent the student body in official college forums and committees, liaise directly with the college Principal and Dean of Students on matters affecting students, and provide strategic direction for all union programmes and initiatives. The President is accountable to the entire student population and ensures that the union fulfils its constitutional mandate.
The Deputy President assists the President in the execution of union duties and automatically assumes the role of President in their absence. They coordinate the activities of all cabinet secretaries, ensure that union resolutions and projects are implemented on schedule, and serve as an alternate representative in college management meetings. The Deputy President also oversees internal union administration and succession planning.
Cabinet Secretaries
The Organizing Secretary is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all student union events and activities throughout the academic year. This includes orientation programmes for new students, cultural festivals, talent shows, inter-departmental competitions, and the annual graduation ceremony. They work closely with faculty advisors and external sponsors to ensure events are well-resourced and professionally executed, while building a lively and engaging campus atmosphere for all students.
The Cabinet Secretary for Sports oversees all sporting activities and programmes within the college. They coordinate inter-departmental sports leagues, organize teams for external competitions and regional tournaments, liaise with the Sports Department on facility bookings and equipment procurement, and promote physical fitness and sportsmanship among students. This role is crucial in nurturing athletic talent and ensuring Riragia TVC maintains a competitive edge in regional and national sports events.
The Cabinet Secretary for Finance manages the Students' Union budget and all financial matters pertaining to student activities. They prepare annual budget proposals, track expenditures for union events and projects, ensure transparency and accountability in all financial transactions, manage fundraising initiatives, and present regular financial reports to the union leadership and student body. This role is vital in ensuring that union funds are used responsibly and effectively for the benefit of all students.
The Cabinet Secretary for Health champions student health and wellness initiatives on campus. They coordinate health awareness campaigns, blood donation drives, mental health sensitization programmes, and HIV/AIDS awareness events. They liaise with the college dispensary and external health organizations to ensure students have access to health services and information. This secretary also advocates for improved sanitation, clean water supply, and safe living conditions within the campus and its environs.
The Cabinet Secretary for Academics is the voice of students on all matters relating to teaching, learning, and academic policy. They gather and present student feedback on course delivery, advocate for adequate learning resources such as textbooks and lab equipment, coordinate peer tutoring and academic mentorship programmes, and represent student interests in academic committee meetings. This role ensures that academic concerns are addressed promptly and that students receive the quality education they deserve.
